This morning on my way to a dentist appointment I saw a young man walking with an arm sling on and who looked to be in distress. Anyone who knows me understands that I won't drive by regardless of what's on the agenda.
As I spoke with him I learned he was prone to seizures and had not taken his meds this morning and was on his way home to do so, but felt a seizure was going to happen now. I offered to get him in my car to transport him home so he could take his meds. As I stepped to open my car door he fell headfirst onto the grass beside the sidewalk and had a grand mal seizure. Someone stepped out of a nearby business and I told them to call 9-1-1. Several more people stopped their vehicles to assist. As more people arrived I excused myself from the scene to go to my dentist appointment knowing he was in capable hands. I live in a community where there is judgement towards the Indigenous community. I'm not certain how many cars drove by him or how many business people saw his distress and did nothing, but I can safely say it would have been several. My coming upon him on the way to a dentist appointment was not accidental. He needed a non-judgemental person in his corner at that moment. He was meant to be in my existence. A minute prior to me seeing him, this young man did not exist. When I left him in good hands, he no longer exists, unless he enters my existence again. This is how God, Creator, Universe, Higher Power works. If something or someone appears in your existence you are meant to be there whether by "chance" or by your planning. What you choose to do in those moments for another soul should speak volumes about what you may, or may not, need to work on within yourself. <3
