It has been a learning experience watching a book make its way through the publishing process. Hundreds of hours are committed to the proofreading that is required. This is done so that the reader won't find an error when they choose to partake in the book's teaching. Somehow by finding an error the teaching in the book may somehow become less credible.
What is important to remember is that proofreading of anything is done through the eyes of imperfect human beings. Every effort can be made to ensure there are no errors, but the chances of one slipping thorough are pretty high. And that is okay. All this proofreading has found me proofreading my life. Going back over what has happened and making red remarks for improvement or a red check mark for a job well done. I think we've all done this from time to time. And that is okay, just don't stay there. By this I mean that, there is no past, there is no future, there is only now. Nothing can be done about the first two things, but you have every opportunity to write the "now" that you want. Write carefully to avoid making errors and if you make an error accept it for what it is. Write boldly to cause anticipation and know that you can make changes as you go along. Write knowing that you won't know the ending until you get there, but go ahead and write blissfully anyway! In a world where perfection is sought, be the imperfect being that you are, and be okay with that. You are not here to be perfect. You are here to fulfill a purpose in a way that isn't anyone else's concern but your own. Focus on that and leave the proofreading to God. <3
