Expectations are premeditated resentments

Taken from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: "My serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations. The higher my expectations of other people are, the lower is my serenity. I can watch my serenity level rise when I discard my expectations."

Whatever you firmly set in your mind as an expectation will only ever bring you disappointment. The ability to accept that you are not the only choreographer of your life brings peace.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. <3
