Things

Things will come and things will go. What I've come to understand about life is that material things have no importance. What holds the most importance in one's life is how we love. I don't mean just another human being, but how we love all "things".

The other day I had the privilege of harvesting veggies from two separate gardens. As I was picking through all the "good" plants, I felt a twinge of sadness for the "bad" plants. They were dried up and tired from producing food all summer. Me, being me, I felt compelled to tell them that I was grateful for what they gave so willingly and freely. Doing that made me feel better to know that they were acknowledged. It was a little gesture on my part that let the universe know I felt gratitude for earth's offerings.

It cost me nothing to feel gratitude in that moment. It cost me nothing to harvest veggies to donate to an organization that feeds men struggling with a substance use disorder. It is, and always will be, the small things in life that matter. <3
