Opinion vs Empathy

My most profound AHA moments have been when I discovered that I've been lied to by well meaning people. At first I was annoyed that someone would lie to me, but as I grew in my wisdom I came to understand why they did what they did. They didn't know any better.

For example, the sun does not rise and the sun does not set. The earth is moving, not the sun. We turn to face the sun, the sun does not move at all. So, why do we keep saying, sunrise and sunset? Well, because someone way back "then" said it was that way and we all followed along. 

When I put my ego (know it all) aside and opened my mind (easily swayed) aside, I (the watcher of my thoughts) was able to discern and come up with logical understandings. To be able to do this requires empathy and a willingness to trust yourself that you know more than you give yourself credit for. What truth do you hold that you wonder sometimes if its true? Go ahead and look at the other side of your truth and see if that side makes more sense. That AHA moment you have will change your life. <3
