Faith

I'm an optimist. I believe that all things work out exactly as they are supposed to...good and bad. As I've come to  understand fate more, I know that we have a part to play in the exacting of the universe.

Life doesn't just happen. The intricacies that have to line up in order for your life to take place are endless. It can be mind boggling to think about it...so we don't. We leave life's happenings to what we think are the whims of the universe.

But it is not that simple. Your role is the energy that you put out into the universe. Your energy added to everyone else's energy determines all of our fate. Giving up because of impatience causes a ripple effect that must to be felt somewhere down the line.

I've known my whole life that the peace we all crave is possible, but we need each other to play our part. We need each other to believe that our unity is the answer. Love is the answer. What we crave is on the other side of love, but requires faith from all of us to get there. <3

Be the light

I made a decision awhile ago to stop watching the news because it was depressing. Wouldn't it be great if the news had to share five feel good stories for every bad news story? The doom and gloom brought on by the media only adds to an already depressed society.

What I decided to do was be a light in my tiny part of earth in an otherwise seemingly dark world. I didn't have to do things of grandeur, I just had to care, show kindness, and give genuine love when needed. What would happen, I wonder, if we were all to be a light? If we were to all take our energy, our power and use it for the benefit of one another.

Doesn't that give you a moment of relief, a moment of peace, to feel what our togetherness would do? It seems farfetched and yet at the same time exceedingly possible for us to unite as a species. To do right by one another.

Share your light. Share your kindness. Share your love. Be the change you want to see in the world. <3

Soul vs Ego

Read Now

We all have a soul that seeks peace and ego that seeks chaos. Trying to balance the two is a life long journey of learning.

If you're too humble, you get taken advantage of and if you're too arrogant, you're labelled as a trouble maker. More often than not we settle on either side not wanting to do the work required to remain tepid.

The ego cares little about how its actions affect others. The soul cares enormously about other souls and how they are doing. A comparison would be the devil on one shoulder and your angel on the other. Every moment brings forward an opportunity for one or the other to run the show.

The question is, who is giving either or the ability to thrive? You are. You are the observer of your life. You get to make decisions that will impact your life. You get to decide which shoulder gets the say. You, and only you.

Understanding this should bring relief to you. Why? Because, while you cannot control external circumstances, you can always control how you manage them. You get to determine if you have chaos or you have peace. It's all up to you. It's always been all up to you. <3

An ending is a beginning

Depending on how the end of something is happening, it should be seen as a beginning. It's hard to feel this way when an ending happens abruptly, but easier to prepare for when you know an ending is inevitable.

I've come to understand that when you accept the end of something it means that the lesson has been learned. Struggling against the outcome will only prolong the lesson. Much better to accept and move on. Easier said than done, for sure.

It's Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Monday, October 9th is Thanksgiving day. A time for gatherings and feasts to take place. A time when we remind ourselves of our blessings and the importance of assisting those who may not have as many blessings.

I am thankful for many things, but mostly I am grateful that I am self-aware. Having this peace inside allows me to accept beginnings and ends knowing that both serve a purpose that I may never understand. And I'm okay with that. <3

Are you evolved?

"Broadly speaking, evolution simply means the gradual change in the genetics of a population over time. From that standpoint, human beings are constantly evolving and will continue to do so long as we continue to successfully reproduce. What has changed, however, are the conditions through which that change occurs." Connor Feehly (March 9, 2023)

I shocked my son the other day when I told him the story of my brother and I at ages 10 & 8 going alone to a downtown store in a major city to purchase cigarettes for my father. They cost less than a dollar and we got to use the change for penny candies. In that same major city, people, including us, let their dog out to roam the city and return home when he/she was ready.

Suffice to say we've evolved as a species since then and thankfully we continue to evolve now. We weren't meant to be a perfect species. We're here evolving for reasons that have yet to be revealed to us.

All things in life happen in their own time because we are all on different paths of evolution moving at our own pace. This is why we see such discontentment in the world around us. We're not all on the same page. The good news is that the vast majority of us are striving to find the same page.

The page we are seeking is an acceptance of our self and each other. When we land on that page, we will be evolved. How far along in this evolution are you? <3

Struggle is growth

Read Now

We struggle because we want to control what we cannot control. Accepting this to be the truth about life IS growth.

You cannot control anything external. The only thing you can control are your thoughts and even this can feel like a struggle if you aren't honest with yourself.

How our body functions is fascinating. We take for granted all the things that it does for us in a day to ensure we are okay. Then we have our mind, which we also take for granted, not realizing how much power it actually has.

It takes a lot of self-awareness to accept that we struggle because we are afraid of the unknown. Fear can be crippling for the mind. Fear holds us back from growth.

Our cell phones are a perfect example of how our brain works. If you don't upgrade (grow) your mind, you will get left behind while the rest of society upgrades (grows) in their thinking. Your struggle, is the need to "upgrade" your thinking, but fear keeps you "in your place".

Fear is ONLY in your mind. It is nowhere else. You create it and you can crush it. Accepting this to be the truth is growth, because you have come to realize that you've had the answers all along. <3

Be Open

I'm as guilty as the next person who "listens to speak" and has made snap judgements based on first glances. Really don't like that about myself, so I work really hard to correct this behaviour when I do it. Not easy sometimes, but such an important part of being a good human.

A good human. What does that mean? Well, for me, it means to remain open to changing your mind when necessary. This can be hard to do when the ego is as stubborn as it can be. Not changing our mind can bring us personal discomfort that we are willing to endure just so long as we are "right". Right with what we saw and right with what we hear.

The only way to gain inner peace is to be honest with one's self. Is what I see and hear true? Why do I believe what I see and hear? Is it me that I want to please or is pleasing those around me more important?

A feeling of relief happens when you trust yourself to know what is right and what is wrong for you personally. This is not selfish. This is self preservation. I encourage everyone to seek their own inner peace that cannot be sought from what you hear or see, but from what you intuitively know already. <3

When I first learned that there is only ever "now", it was truly a shocking moment in my life. There is no past, there is no future, there is only ever this moment...this moment...this moment...until death.

The second thing I learned that shocked me even more is that "nothing exists, unless I want it to exist". Seems like a straight forward enough concept, but it's not, and is a tough one for humans to wrap their minds around.

Easiest way to explain it is your neighbor's dog. You know the neighbor has a dog, but the dog doesn't exist unless you see it or hear it bark. He's "there", but he's not really "there". This pertains to those you love as well. They don't exist until they affect one of your senses in some way.

The only thing that permanently exists and remains constant is your thoughts. Your thoughts are your reality. What you think, you are. What you think, you become. What exists in your life is there because you want it there, good or bad. Your mind truly is that powerful.

We are energy, just like everything around us has energy. Everything has a frequency. Some frequencies are high and some frequencies are low. Humans can regulate our frequencies with our minds. Those frequencies bring to us our reality. High frequencies = good. Low frequencies = bad.

If you doubt that, feel gratitude and see what comes your way; feel unappreciative and see what comes your way. Good gets good. Bad gets bad. You get to decide how much of either of these you will get with your thoughts. <3

At a glance

Read Now

So often in life we glance at something and our mind decides what it is for us. But when we take a second glance our mind will change itself to accept the reality of what we saw.

All the more reason to not make snap judgements. Your subconscious mind has a tendency to jump to conclusions making your conscious mind believe that what it is sharing is correct.

Those beliefs are limiting...that is why they are called "limiting beliefs". They hinder us from moving forward in life. We're all holding on to untruths that our stubborn ego won't let go of because - no one likes to be wrong.

If you feel icky about something that you are harbouring that causes you to feel hateful...that's a limiting belief. By our very nature, humans love, not hate. We've been taught to be all judgey and mean. We're definitely not born like that.

You saw lips and then you saw a leaf. How many times in a day do you realize that what you thought at first wasn't actually correct? Try to give yourself grace when you take the second glance and understand that in life "it" is never what it appears to be. <3

Enlightened

Read Now

Enlightened: having or showing a rational, modern, and well-informed outlook; spiritually aware; civilized, knowledgeable, literate, open-minded, reasonable, and sophisticated.

We are all enlightened beings. Some of us choose to accept this truth and others struggle with this truth, which is what causes the divides that we see in human nature.

Enlightened humans can see another human's soul. Enlightened humans have empathy.
Enlightened humans have no time for nonsense.
Enlightened humans get "it".

Then you have the humans who cannot get past themselves. They are the supposed "victims" of the enlightened humans. Enlightened humans get blamed for all that is not quite right with those who live in misery and despair. The do-gooders take the "fun" out of the mayhem that the unenlightened humans sprinkle around, because enlightened humans would rather have peace.

Enlightenment IS what divides us. Not race. Not color. Not political affiliation. Not religious denomination.

Trust me on this. <3
